Title: PCM M10 internals too sensitive for a rock concert?
Post by: pafnuzzi on June 09, 2011, 03:46:52 PM
Hello

Since I don´t record a lot anymore the only thing that is left from my recording equipement is my Sony PCM M10. I wil attend for the first time in my life since I´m a classic fan a bon jovi concert in july. Is there a possibility to record it with the internals of the pcm m10 or can I forget this already before. If so what would be the best configuration (low cut rec level....)???

Thanks and regards

Sony specs the max input level for the internals at 123 dB SPL.  You'll probably be OK, but it would depend on how loud it is (and how close you are to a stack)...

It's probably not going to sound as good as if you had a nice setup, but it will work... you'll go home with something.

One time I went to see Susan Tedeschi expecting to open tape with my big rig, but got shut down.  I didn't have stealth mics/preamp, just the bare R09, so I ran the built in mics, with the recorder on the table.  Personally, I think it's one of the worst quality tapes I've ever made, but some people really liked it.
