i have a Sony Net MD MZ-N510 walkman, it only has a line in (optical) for a minijack, however i have been told most sbd's have analog out (rca's), is there anyway to go from one to the other?
-
i'd be willing to bet that line in also accepts analog signals, not just digital. get a patch cable from radio shack.
-
yep it does, to the shack you go
-
so i run a patch to a y-splitter for a mini? ive never done this kinda thing
-
just get a RCA(phono)~>stereo mini(1/8") cable to patch from sbd to the line in on your MD. that is of course the sbd has rca outs. you can buy the cable at virtually any electronics store.
does that help?

is there only 1/8" cables? i have a regular RCA->1/8", i ran it from the audio out on my stereo to the line in, hit record, and when i playback i get nothing. is there a difference from 1/4" and 1/8" that one would work and one wouldnt?

you are looking for this cable:
1/8" mini-stereo aka 3.5mm stereo jack < 2 RCA (male) Y cable.
your MD has an 1/8" stereo input.
