Ok i just bought a powerbook g4 1.25GHz, 512 mb and i really want to upload my recordings to this bad boy can anyone recommend what software i will need and what do i need to import my music to my powermac ..

You'll need a soundcard to go from DAT(I assume) to the computer.
Then you'll need software to record that file on the computer. If it's only from DAT, there are many programs out there that will do this job. (Scott, is Coaster available for OSX?) There's also Spark, Peak (though I don't like their software), and the like for cheap, and the big boys of Digital Performer, Logic, and Nuendo for major $$ but with very good editing capability.
I recommend Spark XL for what you're doing + Scott's xACT interface.

But i have both minidisc and DAT and i also want to upload regular cassette tapes to my mac , what type of card do u think i need and what is the cost $$, i feel like getting one today

Joe - I've got an emi 2|6 that will do the trick nicely. It's got analog and coax S/PDIF ins (though no optical, which you might want for your minidisc). Check it out at http://www.emagic.de/products/hw/A26/index.php?lang=EN and let me know if you're interested...
