I see lots of talk about the 5012 but nothing about "Portico 5017 - Mobile DI/Pre/Comp". Is that not a suitable preamp for concert recording? Please excuse my ignorance.

those are single (mic) channel as best I can tell. So if you get two, you've already spent more then what it would cost to get the 5012.
