Hey now,
So I've gotton ahold of a sweet little 9800 mAh 12 volt lithium ion battery from japan (very similar to Tekk on battery, except you can't select voltage, and only 46$ new delivered). So, here's the question....on the standard 15 pin (i think it was 15 pin) breakout cable, that provided the ad1000 with a spdif out, as well as a 4 pin xlr for power input, I need to know what 2 pins on the cable were used, and which, particularly, was positive. I can easily enough open up the 4 pin male on my dongle, but am not sure how to tell which pin of the 2 was positive, and which was negative. As I've very excited about getting this unit up and running again (my 9 year old had a good time patching a digital deck at Merriweather this phish tour, and really wants to start learning the whole deal)...I plan to use it as the pre/A>D with a pair of cmc6 > KC5 > MK4 for my little one to take a spdif into his own 661....i just don't want to f-it up with reverse polarity (I can't remember whether the ad1000 will fry, or just not power up if i get the polarity wrong).
Anyone who can help me out will be doing us a great service....he's hoping to record the local symphony as his first gig in about 10 days or so, and I want to have time to build and test his cable.
thanks,

ps - it'd be sweet if you could email me direct at durhambrian@hotmail.com

Mmmmm, grilled cheese.

yes, but better sounding grilled cheese than many of today's "modern," single use machines (eg the ones that WON'T cook your wook food at setbreak)
I'd take 20 bits of AD1k over 32 bits of Lunatec V3, AD2K+, etc.

Thank goodness we have plenty of gear options -- I've never particularly liked the Apogee sound.
I suspect the pinout is here somehwere...try searching the Pre/ADC and Remote Power forums as well as the same in the TS Knowledgebase section. I'll try to search a bit later if I have time tonight.

12V: Pin 4 is hot (+12v), Pin 1 is ground (-)
a couple of months ago, I made a new cable and SLA battery for taylorc to run his AD-1000 as well. so you're not the only one.
p.s. direct email coming as soon as I finish this post. but I thought I'd post here as well for everyone's benefit.

Right on! Thanks a lot for the info Jason....I love this place. Any piece of knowledge I want to know, I just ask. I get a straight answer, or someone offering to look it up for me. I also know I CAN search the archives myself and find an answer if I dig a little....I just like that immediate response from folks I trust. I also love sparring a little, as it's so enlightening to hear another person's INTELLIGENT interpretation of what they hear. I love listening to everyone verbally express what it is they hear, or don't, or wish they did.
Thanks again, TS.com....this place rocks!
