Title: RUnning JB3 on battery power...
Post by: phishn on February 28, 2004, 03:01:55 PM
Hi,

Just got my JB3.  Only problem is it doesnt seem to run off the battery.  If i plug it in with ac the icon shown is one with a power plug inside a battery which according to the manual is a fully charged battery.  Power down, pull out ac plug, and press power button..nothing happening.  Has anyone else experienced stuff like this?

Actually...I noticed something funky..the battery pack they gave me is 3.6 volt...how can this be the right one if the unit requires 5 volts?

The 3.6v battery is correct.  Pick up another internal for insurance and longer shows.

Have you tried holding the power button down a second or two?  It won't start on a quick push of the button.

yes.  i have held the button down for several seconds and nothing happens.  Thinking this is a bad refurbed unit.

Forgive me, not trying to insult your intelligence, just starting at the beginning:

[1] Is the battery inserted with the proper orientation?
[2] Is the battery inserted fully so it kinda clicks into place?
[3] Is the battery inserted in the #1 batt slot? (shouldn't matter, but...)
[4] Does it remain powered up if you simply unplug the power cable, without shutting down and trying to start up off batteries alone?

no insult at all brian..thanks for the help.  btw, i'm not sure why it initially showed a power plug inside the battery (fully charged but on ac power).  I left it plugged in playing around with it, it shut itself down after so long of no activity as i researched online.  I went to go back to it and now i see the battery icon doing the correct flashing/charge sequence.  guess im just not patient enough with new toys and i want em working immediately.
