Title: problem with r-09hr corrupted file
Post by: red on July 11, 2011, 12:02:29 AM
I'm having some issues with an r-09hr corrupted file -- I think it's a file header problem.  I want to copy the file before I try to do any fixes so I can keep a copy of the original, but I'm unable to copy the file.  I recorded in 24/96 and it started to pour at the end of the show so I think the rain may have caused a shutdown.  the entire file appears to be on the recorder so I think it's a header issue.  I'd like to try to run pigiron's fix but want to keep my original file intact.  Here's my questions.  I tried to research before posting (I don't tape a lot so am pretty green on all this, so i apologize if i missed something obvious):
1)  is there a way I can copy my file before I try any fixes?
2)  what is the best fix?

thanks in advance for any help.

The r-09 has a built in file repair function. Someone will chime in here on how to access it from the menu.

Here's the topic and directions. I imagine it's the same on the hr.

thanks newplanet7, I hadn't seen that link.  I'm copying the file right now, once I get a copy I will start fiddling around (I found a few programs that will copy files that windows won't copy -- hopefully the md5 will run clean and it will be a perfect copy).  p 80 of the manual gives the "repair" instructions.  I'm also going to try the flac idea.  I'll report back.
