Alright guys I need help. Can you patch a JB3 to a JB3 like you can from 1 DAT to another? How about laptop to laptop?
Thanks guys............

Analog into the NJB3, no digital patching possible.
Optical patching - a simple optical splitter *might* do the trick, but some folks have found halving the strength of the optical signal feeding the NJB3 causes problems.
If the NJB3 is being fed from an ADC's coax S/PDIF or AES/EBU output through a digital format converter, then yes, using a coax S/PDIF or AES/EBU splitter and a coax S/PDIF <-> optical or AES/EBU <-> optical digital format converter.
Since most digital patches are coax S/PDIF, a simple barrel splitter available at Radio Shack and a Hosa ODL-276 coax S/PDIF <-> optical digital format converter would do the trick.
The only real catch is that since the barrel splitter simply splits the signal in half, the signal may not be strong enough after just a couple splits, meaning long patch chains aren't real likely to succeed.
Laptop - depends on how the signal is being fed to the laptop. If coax S/PDIF or AES/EBU, then same as above. If USB or firewire, I don't think so.

Thanks Brian.
Cheers.

or, you could just wait until after the show and get a firewire > firewire wire and transfer the show from one njb3 to the other that way. wouldn't take more than a couple of minutes after the show.

Are you certain this can be done direct JB3 <--> JB3, without a PC in the equation to act as the firewire host and s/w installed (Notmad or PlayCenter) to provide the interface?

grr, at one point i swear it was written on the nomadworld.com website, however, now they don't have any of the previous firmware's on their site. i'm pretty sure it was one of the features of the early firmware upgrades, but i forget now. I'm positive you can, i guess theres only one true way to find out, but i don't have the cable, nor another jb3.
i swear by it you can tho, i rmember reading it somewhere.

While running analog in, I don't think it passes a signal through the headphone jack, althogh haven't relly tested it. Did try it at a show once, it didn't work, but didn't put much time into it. Might send a signal out the line out jacks, but not sure.

It does. I had someone patch out of mine that way. It only sent a signal out of line1, not line2.

in the setup menu you have the option to turn on/off line 2, maybe if it was set up so it could output to both channels, you might be able to patch two people out of it.
*shrug*

im almost certain you can link jb3s with a firewire cable and transfer directly
