Title: flac frontend will not produce fingerprints
Post by: George on August 13, 2011, 02:57:26 PM
I feel like banging my head against a wall.   It simply creates a blank text file...no ffp's are in the txt file.  What gives?

OS: Win 7 64 bit.
flac front end 1.7.1 etree version

I switched to Traders Little Helper:

http://tlh.easytree.org/

Works great for me. Same OS.

FLAC Frontend has several problems with 7.  Traders Little Helper works like a charm though.

They are both using the latest FLAC version so TLH is not a downgrade.

I used TLH, I like it a lot.  Problem is when I try to create a torrent at Trader's Den it's asking me for a copy of the txt file of the ffp, I can't do that with TLH's ffp.

Right click the ffp file and choose "Open with" and then pick notepad. You can cut and paste the ffp data there.

Just tried that, it was a bunch of garbage.  Let me be a little clearer: I flac'd the show with flac frontend and then created the ffp's with TLH, but if I open the ffp with notepad it's just a bunch of garbage.  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here, but I can't figure it out.

can you attach an example ffp? (rename it .txt so you can attach it here).

Using Trader's Little Helper:

You can save fingerprints as "FFP" or "TXT".  There is a drop down box in TLH.  I save one of each.  I then open the Fingerprint "TXT" file so I can copy, & paste the fingerprints to the bottom my Tracklist "TXT".  I then delete the Fingerprint  "TXT".  Viola!  I can now copy & paste the fingerprints from the Tracklist "TXT", to the Tradersden upload page.

Sound easy enough?

All anyone has to do is
1)rightclick the ffp file.
2) Select Open with
3) it gives you a list of programs to choose from.
Select Notepad and check the box to "Always use this program to open this type of file."
4) Now every time you click on an .ffp file it will open as a txt where you can copy/paste contents.
No need to make two separate files.

I save the text of my MD5s and FFPs in my info text file, it would be nothing to save them to .txt...

^^^
Also another sound option.
But the op was having trouble even getting to the point to read the .ffp
