Title: Need mics for a Sony PCM-M10
Post by: XmnwildX12 on September 06, 2011, 12:44:22 AM
I have decided to try to start taping shows, I just recently ordered a Sony PCM-M10 and I am looking for ideas for mics and whatever else I might need.

Need more info.
Stealth or taper friendly (open) recording?

Either way you will need mics~> Cables~>  preamp/battery box (power to mics)*~>  cables~> recorder.

*Some small mini- mics can run on a few hand-held recorders plug-in power. To see if
that's possible with the m-10 pop in on the recorders dedicated thread.  http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=145955.0

The pcm m10 owners here are so dedicated that they even have sub threads summarizing frequently asked ?'s SO YOU ARE ONE LUCKY SOB!

I will primarily be using my recorder for stealth recording. Thanks for the links to those threads as well.

don't know your budget, but for 175 you could get a nice set of microphone madness HLSC-2 cardioids in the yard sale http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=148404.0  no batt box, but definitely some good sounding mics.

if you have a bit more to spend
you could go for the countryman B3's  they are omnis but super small.

pigtailed then wire them to a single 1/8 trs (stereo) plug , turn on your plugin power and your good to go.
