Title: Field Recorders - Sony PCM-D50 & Zoom H2n
Post by: fguidry on September 11, 2011, 01:48:13 PM
I recently got my hands on both the H2n and the D50, so I put them up in various configurations for comparison.

Internal mics: http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2011/09/07/field-recorder-comparo-sony-pcm-d50-zoom-h2n/ & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbSbIUUFiAA

External mic (Rode NT4): http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2011/09/09/field-recorders-external-mic-input-pcm-d50-h2n-h2-all-with-nt4/ and a YouTube that looks at level matching in post using REAPER: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3b4qBkOXxM

Any relation to Ed Guidry Neumann extraordinaire on this board? Runs 140's and U89's.

I don't know Ed but, yes, we're related. The whole clan, going by several variations now, traces back to one family in the Cajun diaspora.

Nowadays most Guidrys are from Louisiana or descended therefrom. Last time I looked there were three pages of Guidrys in the New Orleans phone book. But the book is probably smaller now.

To be honest, I'm not a taper, just a home recording musician who finds taper gear deals irresistible. I did develop an itch for a pair of U89s but even though I've got an ebay notify going on them I've resisted. Probably the David Satz influence.

Ha! Ed lives in NY now. Not sure where he came from.
