Does anyone got any recommendations? I got a few in mind, but I with the stupidly large selection of Lav mics, I figure I'd ask before stupidly jumping on purchasing items.

Not sure of their quality.

A lot of the "small mics" folks on here use for low-profile recording are really intended as lav mics. That said:
1- it would help to have an intended price range
2- keep in mind that most people here are using the mics to record music, not only voice, so what is considered an acceptable quality/price tradeoff for recording full-range music may be different than for recording only voice.

I do a lot of work on interviews in my job and use mostly countryman B6, tram tr50s, or sanken cos-11s. Those are favs and in my kit... Picked up a couple of akg c147 lavs for $30 each on ebay as throw away "danger" mics and was surprised by how good they sound. I recommend them...

There are many choices of vocal mics with each offering unique vocal characteristics for changing the recorded vocal sound.
My aproach is to use a personally worn (directly on the head like a set of headphones) to record your voice exactly as you hear it. Email me with a copy of your post for pricing on a custom built mic fitting your stated needs.
