Just got my DR-05 in the mail! :D
Anyway I will be going to a small show in town this sunday, im just going to use the internal mic. (saving money for CA-14's+BB right now)
Any tips on setting my recording level? also should I have the LC filter on?

Set your recording level at zero. It only modifies digital level.

With recording level at zero, you will likely get just about nothing with the internals. Start it off about halfway (don't have mine handy but I believe it's a 0-100 scale) and monitor the levels. I try to peak between -6 and -12. Run in 24 bit. You're probably going to have to practice a bit. Only time I've used internals on the DR-05, I let my 9YO record with the internals, hand holding for a street corner guitarist, but do not remember level settings. It turned out pretty nice. Leave the limiters and filters turned off. I recommend taking some headphones to monitor with so you can check what you're getting if you have the chance.

I have a DR-05 and your statement is just not correct. I recorded a concert with the internals, level set at zero, and it came out fine.

Real world experience trumps my assumption. Still curious, were you onstage or close to the sound source? Was it a loud show?

Well the show I went to was an outside show, maybe 20-30 feet away from the stage. During sound check I had my level set at 20, after the sound check though I had to turn it down to about 10. I was surprised that the recording turned out the way it did. I still need to take a little of the bass out though.

Pleasantly surprised, I hope?

Yes, pleasantly surprised!. I can't wait to get my CA-14 cards though.
