I currently run
SP-CMC-2 Sound Professionals Deluxe Audio Technica Cardioid Stereo Microphones >
SP-SPSB-1 Sound Professionals Mini Battery Module > Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder
I have made some really killer recordings with this setup ( you can find my stuff on Dime or Traders Den ) but , I am looking to upgrade my mics , I was looking at SP-CMC-4s , 8s , or 9s , they seem to be the best mics offered by Sound Pros , can anyone help me with wich ones are the best , or if there is something better out there in the same price range , I do like the cards , I really don't want anything else.
Thanks
Bill

The 8's sound too thin to me. ( I sold mine)
For cards, I would steer you towards:
CA-14 (specify cardioid as they are also available in omni)
I think you tape loud rock from what shows I have seen of yours on Dime and TTD. If you were to get the SP-CMC-4's, you'd have to add a mod called 4.7k that Chris Church devised so they will not distort. The CA-14's will not distort.
Chris sells a battery box (very tiny!) to properly power the mics. Or you could opt for the CA-9100 pre-amp.

+1. I've used the CMC-8's and never liked how they sounded. SP-CMC-8's pale compared to the CA-14 cards. Chris has a couple of small battery box options as well.
