Title: Alesis PalmTrack Handheld Recorder
Post by: popskull on October 31, 2011, 02:01:13 PM
I searched the threads and did not see any current reviews on this device

Anyone using one?

A friend of mine wants to start recording shows, and am helping him select a recorder

From what I have read - it's pretty much junk - Save up and buy a Sony M10.

Look at the Amazon and Musicians Friend reviews.

People who've never had a recorder before think it's, like,  uh, OK, I guess.  People who know recorders think it's cheaply built junk. Low battery life, built-in mics overload with loud music, dropped recordings.  It is inexpensive, but it doesn't seem to have much else going for it.

If it really has to be cheap, from reviews it sounds like the Zoom H1 is a better deal, though also flimsy.

But yes, save up and get the PCM-M10 and don't look back.
