Title: A few questions about computer based art programs.

I have a few questions about programs that are computer based for art.

I have two daughters ( twins ) and Both are very talented in art. My daughter Maggie likes to draw on the computer she is using paint right now and its ok but I am thinking she would like something more advanced.

I was thinking a graphics tablet and corel draw with a good book like corel draw for dummies. Do you think this is a good way to go or is there something better. I want to spend about $250 Or so for both the tablet and the software. The computer they are running is a P4 3.0 gig with 2 gigs of ram not super fast.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like (at least some of) the Wacom tablets come with Autodesk SketchBook Express, which is a better piece of software than anything Corel ever produced.

has light versions of Corel, Autodesk, and Photoshop bundled.

Thanks for all your help guys! I really do appreciate it. I think Autodesk is the way to go. As far as a tablet is concerned I am still kind of in the dark. I am wanting to spend $150 or so for a tablet is it possible to get one that is good for that price. My daughter is 13 but she is very talented. The first time she showed me a drawing I actually did not believe she did it, it was so good. So I want something that will be good to start out with if she really shows a strong interest then I will break the piggy bank later on. Also in comparison to paint in win7 whats the learning curve going to be like for autodesk Sketchpad Pro? And are there any good video's / books I can get her for it? thanks again really.. I am way out of my depth here when it comes to this stuff.

Sketchpad has a learning curve of about 2 minutes.  And for a 13 year old, probably even less. 

I would stick with Wacom.  In my experience, they ARE the tablet makers. Been doing it well and forever.
