Title: Resampling plug-in for SF 6.0?
Post by: BC on March 07, 2004, 04:18:34 PM
Hi All,

A question for you sound forge 6.0 users out there, is there a good plug in to use for resampling?

There does not seem to be a resampling plug in the standard plug-ins that came with sound forge 6.0. The only way I can resample 48KHz > 44.1 KHz seems to be via "process>Resample".

Since I have started using a waves plug in to do my normalizing and dithering, it would be nice to have a resampling plug in, that way I could just insert all the plug-ins and do normalizing, resampling, and dithering all with one click of the mouse, instead of having to do all of the above as separate steps.

Anyone have any hints or recommendations?

Thanks in advance!
Ben

i use SF 6 and find the resampling algorithm to be quite good, never had a problem with and it sounds great to me, i'd just keep it as it is and keep using your plugins for dither, its not too bad

I also like the resampling of SF 6, but the only way to execute it seems to be by clicking "process>resample", there does not seem to be a way to call it as a plug in. I was hoping there was a way to use the Sound forge resampling function as a plug in, because then I could just have a plug in chain going:

Waves L2 Ultramaximizer (optional, if levels were low on the master recording) >Resampler plug in >Waves Dither plug in.

As it is now, first I have to use the L2 Ultramaximizer (optional), wait for that to get done, then click process>resample, wait for that to get done, then finally use L2 to dither down to 16 bit. As you can see I have to be there after each step to perform the next operation, which is a hassle.

If I could use the SF resample as a plug in I could just line up these 3 plug-ins, click execute, go do something else for a while, and all the steps would be done when I come back. This would give me a 16/44.1 file from my 24/48 master with a minimum of bother.

Take care,
Ben

what you would have to watch out for if all 3 were done by the click of a mouse is youd have to make sure that sf6.0 did the DITHERING LAST, if it was done anywhere else in the process, it wouldnt be quite right, make sure you DITHER LAST

Anyone know of any SF6.0 message boards to ask on?

gotten a few replies, it looks like the best way to do this is either a batch process or to write a script. I'm going to try this out ASAP...

Take care,
Ben
