I've been putting off shockmounts long enough. Do I really need to get the Neumann mounts? What are some alternatives? Experience with any, using KM Neumanns?
thanks

are you talking 140's or 184's?
-
The 180 series! 184 to be presise, there the silver ones too if that matters for shockmounting ;D
-
hahahaha, the at's are good as long as you dont care about the profiling. while the neumann mounts are well made, they are rediculously expensive.

i use at mounts with my 184s. work fine ;D

i use one shockmount and made a sweet stereo bar that i can run DIN / ORTF with. its like the AT vert bar with a shockmount in the middle...if post a pic if i can find one...

this is a pic of my home made shock mount system. it can go either vert. or hor. to fit all needs...sorry this picture isn't the best, but should help offer other ideas for using shock mounts.

ya know...check into the Shure dougnuts...since the 184's are short they may suit you well.
