Title: Powerbook G4 Owner!!
Post by: jpschust on March 10, 2004, 03:19:47 PM
Well, I made the plunge.  Paid for it today, should have it in San Diego in a few days.

1.25ghz Powerbook G4
1.5 gigs of ram
2 extra batteries (i do quite a bit of traveling and work away from sites that have power)

So here are the questions- what is everyone using to multitrack with and to 2 track with on mac.

Also, how long should i expect out of each battery?

Looks like my rig for a while will be Studio Projects C4's (with both sets of caps) > MP-2 > UA-5 > G4 :-)

I'm syked!

if the batteries are properly conditioned, you'll get @ 2-3 hours each.
multitrack? how many channels you need to run?

So in other words, you're running a 6?

(4+4-2-5+5)

Yeah, I'm bored at work. +T for new toys!

2-track = Spark XL
multitrack = Digital Performer 4

If the OS isn't Panther (10.3.x), get that too.

Way to go Jonny! WHile I din't pull the powerbook, my new 1 gHz G4iBook kicks ass. I'm looking for some good software as well. I'm looking for a good "Demo" of Spark LE or XL now. If anyone can help point me.

I'm playing with the Spark LE right now. I'm just using my UA-1D to play with. It was working fine and now it seems to not be recognizing. I'll try a reboot in afew. But seems like a decent program. I'll probably end up buying LE but Since I don't use Credit cards it may be a bit hard.

Thanks Jonny,
I may take you up on that. I gave up credit cards years ago. Had past issues that I'm still paying off. I pretty much live by cash only. Someday my Credit Union will have a debit with a visa logo and that would save alot of my hassles. Since LE is only $50 I'm fully willing to actually purchase. I just want to make sure it's going to work for me.
