Title: Marantz pmd661 not starting up

I have had the pmd661 for awhile and is out of warranty. Recently the power switch will not always turn the unit on wether on batteries or power adapter. It's getting worse and sometimes won't turn on for days and then it will work or a brief time
Any suggestions?

First check to make sure the adjacent key lock switch is not on, if it is that's your problem.  If not then try taking the "AA" batteries out of the tray for a bit then put them back in and try powering up again. 

I've only had mine lock up once where it wouldn't turn on, it was just after an external tekkeon battery had prematurely failed.  It was of course just before a show but taking out and reinstalling the batteries cleared it.

I've tried all the obvious stuff already and even found a suggestion on amazon - re: pull all power, remove battery, turn-on power switch and hold 5 sec. Plug the power cord and turn on switch.
That used to work, now nothing happens most of the time.

The unit is only 1 1/2 years old, doesn't lead me to think that it's any good.

Haven't seen any other 661 users on Taperssection experiencing this problem, yours may be the first or hopefully only one.
