If they were ever to catch on then nobody would think twice about wires going up into your hat.

I wonder how good will the caps be, which freq range and max. SPL they have... It's a cool idea none the less.

the idea is to remove the "internals" with some proper ones.

Yeah, I already guessed that, but that doesn't mean I can't ask myself about how good will those caps be, does it? :P

Nevertheless, it's really hard to get mic caps here in Spain, so that would be a difficult task to me. There's always online shopping though.

I actually posted this as a joke. I can just see somebody with one of these on running to their iPhone trying to record a show. Cheap mic + bad placement + cheap pre + bad recorder + MP3 = trash

Hats.... I keep searching for a best option for mounting mics...

Kangools look like shit (says my wife, who I trust)

'Winter' Beanies...looks promising but.... do you want to sweat in a venue more than you already do?

Trucker/Baseball hats..... ,,hey dude, what's that on your hat? horns?"'

Cowboyhat..... ,,hey dude, where is your horse?" (well, in Europe atleast, not that common to wear this)

;)

kangols look strange, but H&N sells a kangol ripoff kind of hat that might be a little more "stylish."

there are cheap straw cowboy hats at walmart.  some might call it a "fishing hat," usually worn outside in the summer.  its not all that conspicuous at outdoor or country shows.
