what´s your favourite outdoor (Stealth/small) mic?...
Just interested to hear your opinion on the matter and if you have come across any mic that shines a little extra for outdoor shows...
Thanks

hhhmmmm outdoor use....hhmmm. I have used the AT853 omni's and really liked them. I don't think I have used my DPA4060 outside but have heard recordings done with them outside. I love those too. I would love to hear the nevatons out doors and the B3's.

^^
In no particular order: DPA 406x, Countryman B3, Nevatons, CA-14 omnis.
I can say, from experience, that I've used the 4061's and the CA-14's outdoors with good results (as far back as the soundboard area at a festival show - ~200 feet). I've also used them in 007 mode as well. I'd say go with whatever your budget can afford.

My 4061s are solid outdoors, but the best outdoor recording I ever made was actually with my Audix - http://www.nyctaper.com/?p=3964
Kind of a lightning-strikes-once situation but it smokes anything I've done with DPA, Schoeps, etc.
Not a small mic, but I love the sound of the AKG 414 omnis and Schoeps MK5 omnis outdoors also.

Countryman B3, for both indoor and outdoor. Clipped to glasses, small homemade windscreen, pip to Sony M10.

Another vote for AT853 with Omni Caps...I've made PVC pipe AT853 microphone holders that fit my Clips and ran them on a 1M space bar and taped on each side to my reader glasses temple...

If you want to hear some great outdoor recordings from B3 (binaural/hrtf), check these out:

I've found Sennheiser KE4 great too, but as far as "realism" goes, the B3 are hard to beat. As I've said earlier, I don't like the DPA 406x. Real sounding, but something edgy about them, at least to my ears.
By the way, I've got some older AT853O recordings, really intimate stuff, actually recorded in a studio. These sound great, but they lack the true "being there" feel of the B3. If I could go back in time I would have done it with B3!

I tend to go more open as far as pattern goes when outdoors. mk21's are my favorite.

I am really digging the AT853 with the subcards outdoors. Never ran the 853 omni's, but have ran 933 omni's and like the sound of the subs better.
-
Because they can handle a bit more wind, you'll probably get more folks preferring omni's for outdoor mics. That said, I've made some nice outdoor recordings with AT831 cardioids (Sound Professionals SP-CMC-2). But I don't do a lot of al fresco taping either.

Could you post some photos of your AB setup?

Thanks!
I was envisioning something smaller that you ran the bodies/cord through. Pretty impressive DIY-manship there!
