Hello , i am wanting to use this mic: http://contactmicrophones.com/products-sscond.html
with my Marantz PMD661 -- Is this possible? This mic requires "Plug-In Power".
This is my first post here, thanks for the help!

I think the 1/8" input on the 661 is line level with no plug-in power. If that is the case (check the manual to be sure), you would need either a battery box or a small pre-amp between the mic and the recorder...For louder sources, the battery box would probably be sufficient, while for quieter sources you would probably need a pre-amp.

aaronji is correct, the stereo mini line in on the 661 does not supply power. Its line in only.....pre or batt box will be required.

Hey thanks everyone for the replies. This was my suspicion. Can either of you, or someone else recommend a battery box?
just learning about this kind of stuff, thanks so much for your patience and help.

You can run plug-in power mics through the XLRs using a Naiant PFA. Otherwise, Sound Professionals offers a range of battery boxes and Church Audio sells a battery box as well as some frequently used small pres. The PFA could be a good option, as it might be a little more streamlined and you would only have one non-locking connection...

the Naiant looks great!
