Title: Only 1 channel recording, how to solve it
Post by: sijbrands on March 26, 2012, 06:26:34 PM
Last night I record a Dutch gothic band Within Temptation. The last 30 minutes I have only a recording with one channel.
Is there a possiblity to copy the music from the right to the left channel with Audacityy or Cool Edit Pro and does that work.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated

Yep.  In Audacity:

- "split stereo track" (top left corner of the viewing window, click on the track name, above the mute/solo buttons.
-  Highlight the area you want to duplicate
-  Edit > duplicate
-  Drag that section where you want it
-  Effect > Invert
-  Make it the channel you want it to be (same menu where you "split stereo track")

Once the new track is copied over, offset the two tracks by a few ms to simulate the sound delay between your mics and add a little bit of reverb.  Thats worked quite well for me before.
