searched for this but came up empty. I have 2 sdhc cards. One is 16gb and one is 8gb. Both show remaining recording time as 3hrs 22min on my dr2d. Is this due to the max file size being 2gb, or did I get screwed twice on ebay ? I'd like to know the TOTAL remaining time on a SD card but the Tascam manual was no help there. Wondering if the remaining recording time is due to the max file size or if my sd cards are 2giggers with higher capacity stickers.. Also, is there any way to increase the max file size on the dr2d ?
thanks for any insight!

That is the remaining time until a new file is started. You can check this by changing your setting (say from 24/48 t0 16/44.1) and the remaining time will change as you will have more storage capacity at one setting versus the other within the 2gb limit. There is no way to change the file size, as that is not a tascam issue but a FAT32 allocation issue. I forget the details, but this is why most decks have 2gb file limits. I know the some are 4gb like the Marantz pmd661, and the Fostex FR2LE, but I do not know what is different on those decks. Perhaps someone with more remaining memory capacity than I can elaborate...
