So, what is needed? I have some 6v SLA's that are here collecting dust since I only carry 1 at a time... can those be used?
I almost had one of those old Radio Shack CD player batteries but at the time I needed to pay I had no valid checks thanks to my bank being screwups (long story)...
Thanks ahead of time for any advice...

I've always used Maha Powerex AA rechargables with excellent results.
-
Thanks, +T -- What kind of run time can I expect?
Anything's better than the 2 hours tops with AA's...
-
I never pushed 'em real far b/c I was paranoid, but I got 4+ hrs a few times without too much worry. I usually swapped 'em out at setbreak to be safe.
For festivals, I ran a 4xD-cell rechargable sled.
FWIW, I get my rechargables at www.thomasdistributing.com (http://www.thomasdistributing.com).

i have a D100.
here are some personal results with various power supplies:
Duracell AA: ~2.5hrs
Energizer Lithium AA: ~5.5hrs
Lenmar NiMH 2300mAH AA: ~4hrs
Lenmar NiMH 1800mAH AA: ~2.5hrs
home built 4-D cell (Duracell) sled: ~30hrs
these figures are approximations with NO backlight, no play/rewind/ffwd. just pure recording time.

My experience mirrors Marc's, though I've had terrible results on alkalines - AAs lasting ~1 hr, 4xD cell sled lasting 4 hrs, that kinda crap. Turned me off alkalines real fast. I just have bad alkaline battery luck, I guess.

joe, don't use those 6v's unless you regulate them down to 4.5 volts. thats how that d100 was fried in the first place :-) At least thats what jim suspected- its all fixed now. +T to pro dig!

i recently replaced the D Cells for my sled after few MONTHS of taping and measured the voltage. it was approaching 6.2Volts. not a problem with my D100/M1.
but others' decks may vary.

I've seen an M1 that was used on 6v's for several years melt mid-show from the 6v power.
I think it can be done, but I don't think I'd risk it with my deck...

I only used lithiums in my D-100. I'd get 5-6 hrs. It's a little spendy though.

I've done 3+ hours of recording with NiMH and only had it drop one bar

home built 4-D cell (Duracell) sled: ~30hrs
i built one of these a while ago for a d8 & sbm-1, but i have never used it.
30hrs? wow!
:jawdrop:
is the sled & 4 D cells lighter than a 7amp hr sla?

i've been using a 6v on my d100 for 4 years now

see my above post, a friend used 6v with his M1 for years and then one day the thing just fried...
it's your gear though...
