Looks like you got scooped...a name I think I've seen on this board.
You should thank him for saving you from buying a single mic :P
If you ever see a good eBay deal, post at your own risk! the vultures are always circling ;)

Oops, sorry about that :( We must've been looking for them at the same time.

JBK,
I'd hardly call the 480's applicable for "stealth/low pro situations" As far as size the 391s are more applicable...
-
thanks lee. i will keep a lookout for the 391's from now on. mgleason, don't even worry about it, i am still at least a month away from buying.
-
FYI, the 391's (that is, 390 bodies with ck91 caps) are $325 each at daleproaudio.com. Those guys were great to me with my shockmount/windscreen/vert bar order. Can't recommend them enough if you decide to go new.

skip those... the 391's are okay mics but the 480's are in a whole nother league. the 391's are smaller but not that much smaller.
-
small enough to run fob at the fillmore tim ?
-
they're full bodies mics... you could run them up front at the fillmore if you were careful.
-
mod 460's with active cables....if you can find them.
-
if you are looking for a low profile non active type mic, I would recommend the MG M300s....they are under 4" long and pretty low profile considering they are a "full bodied" mic
-
got the 460s got the actives now needs "THE MOD"

good idea Nick!
I really like the sounds of the 300's... I have a friend here in Denver who runs them with a V2->Minime... nice mics!
-
I tell you, the gefell sound (basically a result of the slight HF rise) is great for crappy sounding rooms too....very nice....

I've heard some tapes that were I think the same lineage.....really really nice sound, must admit
