i have been patientily searching for a clean used pair of neumann km131 near-field omnis for almost 10 years. they never seem to come up for sale anywhere. anybody know where a pair might be found? danke.

These are very nice mics that people tend to keep and not sell on.
The new ones are the new KM-A + KK131 (I have a pair with the KM-D digital bodies), these have the latest electronics and are quieter than the old KM100 series (but the basic capsule is the same).

hi john - i think the new kk capsules are passive or something, and different from the older AK capsules. a new set of km-a bodies with kk131 caps is around $2500.

You can buy active cables for the km-a and kk
Since Schoeps patents ran out they where able to move the active components into the cable just like Schoeps
In the km series the FET is in the capsules and the cable is a passive extension cable
