Title: MD Transfer Question

A friend of mine is taping a show via MD tomorrow and is going to send me the MD's for transfer. I DON'T want to run MD > SBLive (via analog cable)

Can I go MD > USBPre > WaveLab?

I've never transfered like that, and I'm guessing I can, just currious before I put time into it

love the MD.......

what's up mellow phellow. yeah you CAN use the USBpre (it'll be quieter than the soundblaster, but it still isn't a pure digital transfer. if you send me the masters and some blanks b&p style I'll convert em (sony mxd-d400 > terratec ewx 2496) and flac the unedited files.

Yeah, I have the mxd-d400 too.  Pisses me off when the new hi fi md recorders come out I'll have to buy another home deck for digital transfers

sell all of your MD stuff and go JB3......not need for extra equipment for transfer......mmm mmm good

Mark, if you bring the MD player and MD masters with you this saturday, I'll transfer them for you... Yes, I decided on Barf it Manner.

Just gotta make sure you MD has optical out.  If not, we can go analog out>UA5>NJB3 (or your lappie).

Of course, I imagine you could go analog out>USBpre>Lappie...

Portable MDs almost never have optical out. Sony's first model did and that's about it. That's how they getcha!
Some decks do, I had one for a while but sold it recently. I have one I added a DIY optical out on, but I haven't gotten it to work yet (I think it;s a bad solder joint).
