Title: Does this exist?
Post by: gkatz on July 01, 2012, 02:37:14 PM
I am looking for a "standalone graphic equalizer" to be used for adjusting the output sound of google chrome. I have been using google music for a while now, and it would be nice to have some type of EQ interface to make adjustments.

I know there are ones you can buy, but these are generally overkill for what my interests are (most of these paid programs are closer to DAW's with special plugins, I'm just looking for a standalone EQ that can be used for chrome).

The VST plugin route is not what I am looking to do. I'm trying for a real-time chrome EQ.

There is a program i use on my Mac to capture webcast audio from my web browser called
Audio Hijack Pro.   http://rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/

You can add any effects or plugins you have on your computer, on the Mac an EQ
is in the Core Audio package, so you don't have to buy anything extra.

I know there is a PC program called Total Recorder, but i am not familiar with it.
It comes with a free add-on EQ  http://www.totalrecorder.com/addon1.htm

Have you checked the features of your existing sound card/chip?

Lots of RealTek devices came with software that includes a EQ...for example.

Also check the manufacturer's website for extra software.
Sometimes systems (particularly windows) just come with drivers to make the device function, but - often there are extra software packages with more features, cooler interfaces.
