Title: Newbie MD Transfer Question
Post by: mike1218 on March 17, 2004, 02:33:09 PM
I taped New Monsoon last nite here in Vail, CO.  Everything went fantastic and the recording sounds damn good IMHO!!  This was my first time recording with my MD player.  How do I upload my audio to my Hard Drive?  Whjat program should I use to do this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

-mike

If you want to do it the "right way" you need to get a bit perfect sound card with optical in and either an old Sony MZ-1 or a standalone deck that has optical out.

Okay, I have the Sony MZ-S1.  It doesn't seem to have an optical OUT, just IN.  So what are my other options here.  Do I have any?  Options that is?

Not for doing it the preferred way, but you can go line out into your sound card.  It won't be the greatest transfer in the world but it works.  Or maybe someone with the right equipment will pop in here and offer to do it for you.  I don't have an MD or I'd offer.

yea its best asking someone else to xfer it for you.  perhaps even someone on ts.  it'll sound a whole lot better and is definitely worth the trouble.

Do you plan on spreading?  You could simply transfer it via line-in on your sound card (as mentioned before) if you think it still sounds good and you want to listen for personal enjoyment. you can even spread it if you like, as long as you document your transfer accurately.

or I could help you out with the transfer. send me a pm if you need some help..

Oh, the MD's are all tracked out and ready to go.  No editing or anything neccesary.

the tracks don't transfer, you'll have to do that yourself on the computer...
