Hey guys,
I got a problem with my H340 since yesterday. When pressing the Play button, the iRiver does not start (neitehr Rockbox or original OS). When plugging in energy it shows the usual "charging" but when I plug it out, the iRiver won't start (even if it says charged). When plugging in USB, rockbox starts fine, but when plugging it off and trying to play a song, it crashes down and I can't start it up... is my battery done? Anyone can help?
Thanks in advance,
sckofelng

Did you try the irive forum, i think its called mystic river, was a great resource, been a couple years since i have looked on there though, or just google iriver forum

One time I connected my iRiver H120 with the polarity reversed and it took out the charging circuit. It could be the battery as well, but I can't think of any way to test that. Either way, the battery is not being charged. Could be time for an M10.

Don't have money for a M10 + I wanna stick to the iRiver. So I should buy a new battery first and switch it and then try again or try to fix the charging circuit you mentioned?

It seems to me a clear problem of battery,... I think you should change it. I have changed some of them to my several H320s and H340 and problems like these were solved... in ipods99.com you can buy one battery and they even provide you a video in which explain how to change it easily. Here you are this useful video:

Hope this help you....

The upshot of what I'm saying is go ahead and change the battery but you may be disappointed if the charger is shot, and I doubt that it will be fixable. The batteries are pretty cheap though so there's not much at risk. I'm all for fixing things rather than chucking them especially as that recorder will still be valuable for matrixes etc when you eventually upgrade.

As I am living in Germany, I had to order from somewhere else and I got recommended a battery that holds an entire day according to 2 other people who are using the same recorder. Hope this will solve it, otherwise I might cry 'cause I do not only use it as a recorder, but as music player as well because I am amazed of its sound quality. Fingers crossed.

I had an H340 and it got flaky when I Rockboxed it. It never worked properly after than. I found it to be much more temperamental than the H120's I've owned.

got mine rockboxed and always worked perfect til that happened.. gotta admit that battery also held like 4 hours only (i had the 1300mah one if i am not mistaken) so thats not max. power either right?

Dont get one too big, i have worked on and replaced many batteries, if i remember right the 2200mah is just a lttle to think for the 3xx series, i think the 1800mah? Fit nicely and yes the battery will last a long time as long as its a fresh one

i ordered the 2200mah one already.... it might help anyways, thanks for your tip though, in case it fails, i will buy a 1700mah one probably.

Giving an update on this.. the 2200mah battery works! Holds 20 hours of playing several FLAC's, thanks again!
