Jonny,
are you putting in your main user password. All mac applications will ask for this.

ok i got it, had to copy it to the apps dir. now what about software for playback of shns and flacs in osx?

xmms is the only gapless option I'm aware of but I've never gotten around to installing it and/or getting it to work (http://www.etree.org/shnutils/xmms-shn/ for the shn plugin, http://packages.debian.org/stable/sound/xmms-flac for the flac plugin).
MaltX is what I use; the program's not made/supported anymore but my buddy has an archive of it here (http://arcticlounge.com/maltx/index.php). Unfortunately it's not gapless playback, but it's good enough for me...

dave you da man- got it working with the shn and flac plugs

Jonny,
keep in mind this is how most mac apps work. Way simpler than windows. Unistalling is as easy as well. Just delete from apps.

Playback: www.macamplite.com
I wish someone would write shn and flac plugins for iTunes...

Would be cool. I've been converting stuff to ACC for the possibilty of getting a ipod sometime. This would save a step or 2 thats for sure.

Sweet! Are you running xmms or MaltX? If it's xmms and was that easy I may have to revisit xmms... :hmmm:
