Title: Newbie sorta?
Post by: oldfan on March 19, 2004, 09:04:14 PM
Hi all..
I got a few question about equipment.
This is what I have currently;
Sony MZ-N707>>ECM-MS907/ Core Sound Low Cost Binaurals
I'm looking to upgrade the mics, I bought the Core's with out thinking :(
I want to keep my MD, I know it has a pre-amp.
But its easy to use and I like it.
I don't have a ton of money and I heard great things about Core.

What would you say was my best option

Low Cost Binaural (LCB) microphone / Low Sensitivity option
or
Low Cost Stealthy Cardioid (LCSC) microphone / Low Sensitivity

Low Cost-series Battery box (fixed, flat response)
or
Low Cost-series Battery box (fixed bass roll-off filter)
or
Low Cost-series Battery box (switchable bass roll-off filter)

whats the best combo ??

i'd say go with the cards, and the switchable roll off..  u have the most options that way.  You have directional mics with cards, and with the option of bass roll off which you probably wont need or use, but its nice to have it if incase you do.  That would give you the most versitile rig.  good luck.  go make some tapes..

Thanks for the info sexmexi :)

Brian, I'd like to keep it under $200.00 if I can.
I plan on selling my sony mic and the Binaurals "which I used twice"

I been reading alot of the threads here, the mic-in/line-in caught my attention.
I have always used mic-in, I've recorded 15 shows this way. :(

you can stay with core-sound if you like, but I second shwillsta's suggestion with the sp-cmc-2. It's actually the at831's sold and modded by www.soundprofesionals.com . I have em with matching soundpro's batt box > MD and they're off the hizzle for the price.  I can get you some samples if you like...
