Anyone run the above stated rig in the subject line? I'm getting back into taping after taking 6 years off. Alot has changed, but I'm still a Schoeps fan! I've been reading alot and recently purchased a Sony M10 to record my daughter's winds ensemble concerts. I'd like to add the rest of the parts in the subject line. My concern is how I go about specifying what I want in the Tiny Box. I'm in contact with Jon at Naiant as I write, but would like to hear from users of the same rig how you operate your rig and what box you went with and any additional configurations. If you have pics of the rig with all cables attached I'd appreciate it if you could upload some. Thanks in advance--hope this in the right forum.

Here is a pic of my MK4>KCY>Tinybox v2 (output transformers)>M10!! I have been real happy with this setup and lately have been running it a lot since it is so small and easy to run verses other gear I have. Email Jon he'll get you setup.

EDIT: I also run a Littlebox like Noah (next post) and it sounds great and offers more options, but they have been discontinued. Very happy with the LB & TB pres

The 41's were my favorite caps back when I was taping. So, why the output transformer? My last rig I ran was:
Schoeps mk4/4v/41/21>KC5>CMC6>Lunatec V3>AD2K>M1

They just have a nice warm feel to them. DL my 11/7/12 Boombox show and check out my mk41>littleBox ot>m10

jbell, what gain setting do you use on the TB? i am guessing the MID position? only downside to me of the TB is no variable gain on each channel and no AA powering. i might buy tonedeafs TB and get it KCY/out xformers modded
-
My gain settings are 10db-20db-32db I ran 10db for Jimmy Herring band, but usually run it at 20db for most shows. I wouldn't get hung up on the battery the internal charges really quickly and using Schoeps caps > KCY you get 20-30 hours of run time. That is probably about the same run time 2 AA batteries would give you. You shouldn't need variable gain on each channel if you are in the sweet spot and your caps are matched or not far off. The downsides for you means you should run the Littlebox that offers those options, but if you want a smaller package with great sound then go with the Tinybox. What the tinybox offers with its size can't be beat.

I'm curious about why you chose 10/20/32 db. Jon told me he starts with 4/18/32, but could customize to any three values between 0-44 db.
I did place the order with the output transformers.
So, where do I find KCY and mk4's matched? Still Posthorn? And other accessories? Google shows two other companies selling Schoeps products.

I got my kcy at pro-sound. Mk4s can be found used for a LOT cheaper here on ts.com ;)

If you're buying new Jerry at Posthorn is a great guy; same deal for Justin at Pro Sound. I happened to buy my KCY and MK5s from Jerry because he's pretty much a Schoeps-only dealer, but Pro Sound is awesome, Justin is a taper and member here, and knows what we need. I'd do business with either of them in a heartbeat.

Just curious, how much is this set gonna cost...
-
Well, used mk4/41/21 are around $1,300-1,600 sometimes less. And the REAL KCY is $880.00. TinyBox is around $300 I guess ???
I just ran mk21>KCY>LB>M10 StageLip NOS last nite and mixed with the vocals of the SBD, it sounds KILLER> mk21s picked up all the instruments and the SBD picked up vocals and harmonica. I'll post a few samples tomorrow probably :)

Schoeps package arrived today :P Should have the Tiny box sometime next week 8)

Sexy :)

Congratulations!
-
Tinybox is tiny :o Can't believe this is all I need to record music. Things have come a long ways since MK41>CMC6>V2>AD2K>M1 ;)
