Title: Need advice on DR-680 breakout cables and bag...
Post by: Fatah Ruark (aka MIKE B) on November 12, 2012, 05:38:36 PM
So...in the process of "upgrading."

Just picked up some CK930's, and might pick up a V3 once I sell my MC930's...so I'll probably move to a audio mixer type bag of some sort.

When I run the 680 I'll usually grab the 2 channel board feed, 2 single vocal mics, and run my stereo mic set at the board. I'd like the option to run my Nevatons on stage though. Once I grab a V3 I'll use that 90% for the audience stereo mics.

I need a (1) bag, and (2) breakout cables for the inputs on the 680. Wondering how ya'll are running the breakout cables (angled or straight). Probably could use a digital coax cable for the V3 > 680 too.

So suggestions on bags that will hold everything (680, V3, batteries, and my mics)? And the breakout cables...how are you running them (length, angles, etc).

I got a Lowepro Pro-Mag AW2 I can hook you up with. I used to have my Portico 5012, DR-680, Aerco MP2, and a couple sets of mic's in there.  ;D

I'm a huge, huge fan of the Kata Sundo (I think mine is the 2...?).  Really compact but with tons of storage.  I'll never let it go.  Easily will hold 680, V3 and mics.

Here's some stock pix of what the bag looks like Mike. There are some pix with it packed with gear on TS also if you search it out.

I can also take pix of mine also if you wanna see it.

Thats impressive.  Seems like it would have to be both very efficient and a pretty tight squeeze.

I use a 4 shelf Sonic Case for my 680, V2, 2 DVD batteries, mics (AKG ck1x actives), cables.  Its not exactly a small footprint, but fits everything pretty well.  680 and V2 each get their own shelf, then batteries, mount, shock, clamp, mics in their otter box get another, then cables and extra set of XLR get the last one.  Use the accessory pouch as a "junk drawer" that everything else gets shoved into.

Dividers are attached by Velcro tabs on the sides also, so you can configure it any way you like. It is a tight fit though. Has more height than width.

Hi mike,

Own a lowepro and in it has the V3, Naiant big box and Dr-680 and 2 tekeon battery. I can run a SBD feed+3 sets of mics with this config. There are big pockets on the lowebag where you might be able to put the mics not sure how big your are.  Then I have another lowepro for all my mics, bars, cameras, video camera, additional cables. For the cables I contacted ted since he has a DR680 already and figure out the lenghts...if I remember correctly ted had pics of the cables for the Dr680 on this site.

I use a Tamrac pro12 for my 4 channel rig. Padded, lots of pockets and inside pockets have clear plastic. Holds pretty much all my gear 2 sets of akgs, 2 littleboxes and a R-44 with all the accessories. Ted bulit me all my breakout cables so everything sits upright in the bag and I plug in the batts and mic cables and pull the heat.

Bags are alot easier to come by than cables, but Ted G. or any of the other TS cable makers will certainly build what you need.
