Title: which is best for soundboard: r09hr, dr07, dr2d
Post by: daze on November 22, 2012, 08:09:13 PM
Which would be the best of these 3 recorders (r09hr, dr07, dr2d) to plug into a soundboard?  I'm going to a show this weekend and will plug one into soundboard, and run 2 audience.  thx in advance.

They should all sound fine. The advantage of using the DR-2D would be that you could run a matrix with one set of mics and the soundboard. I believe that you'll probably need an attenuator between the SBD and the Tascam though.

The R-09HR takes the hottest signal (I think I am correct there).

M10 looks better according to these tests!

Yes, but the OP doesn't have one of those!

I just ran SBD>M10 Weds night, and it couldnt have been ANY EASIER ;) Line-In, with gain level at about 3, and peaks at -10db. PERFECT IMO!

Of the three mentioned, I'd choose the R-09HR for recording SBD alone, becasue it should be able to handle a hotter signal without overloading if that happens to be necessary.  Any of the three will work given a good level out of the board.  Ive used both original R09s and DR2ds and have not had a problem with either.

thanks!  You all are the best.  I will run my r09hr off the soundboard, and will use the other two recorders for audience.  I realize now I need to buy an attenuator cable for the future (but that won't help me tonite lol).
