Impressive, minus the H4n.
I told you not to share my family picture. geez
Not sure I'd be totally comfortable being in the shop with the next picture though. Stacking the big guys on the 788 just seems silly.
2 things:
- just how small the Nomad is compared to the 788
- how big the Tascam actually is.
I wonder whether the preamps are better (as in more "faithful to detail retention", not necessarily "euphoric") in the nomad vs the 788.
Nomad has neverclip in preamps, but i don't know how they sound
Who can estimate how much this represents?
40 grand?

I
think it's pushing 55. The 3 SDs and the Nomad total 20. Without looking I'd say the Cantar and Diva are another 25.

yeah, I saw that. I've gotten rather good at setting acceptable gain, so I'm interested in what sort of detail they retain. I don't recall John speaking highly of them, and I know Richard's opinion on Sound Devices gear so I'm at an impasse.
Still, 2k cheaper then the 788 for the Lite version... I may stroll through GS and see if anyone's said anything.

The nomad's a bit bigger than the 788 (possibly not with a CL8, though). I was a bit nonplussed by the nomad preamps when I tried it- something that could be an issue is that there's always a slight latency, so may have been that as I was only listening to close sources and it's causing some phase cancellation, felt like there was a bit more there on the 552 which I A/B'ed it against. I know some people who are pleased with them, though.
Thanks for the review. :-\
I had a use for all 10 inputs, but at that sort of coin, they better sound clean...
See if you can have a play with one, they're decent machines- just wasn't for me
the hsp82 is not that big considering it has 10 full size xlr connections. unless you are doing movie work in a bag all day the p82 is the way to go for the price.
Anyone know how a 4Minx compares to these? I assume bigger than the 788T but smaller than the Tascam...?
