listen to shakedown street
sounds fine they weird noise happens and it gets lower

Is it possibly where the recorder starts a new file?
Pull it into a wav editor and invert the signal on one channel, see if that has a similar effect. Sounds to me like it's going out of phase at the end of china cat.

Check your battery cable!! I had a buddy with a UA-5 that did a lot of trouble shooting then it turned out he had a bad battery cable. Your problem sounds similar.
