Can someone explain where the limiter threshold should be set for live jamband type music? The limiter lights were illuminated all night and I had the threshold turned all the way to the right on both channels which I believe is +18 db. Does this mean I need to use a pad on my mics? I assume yes, they have a -10 and -20 db pads. Any suggestions?
These units have input transformers to accommodate long cable runs, so they run hot. Pads or inline attenuators of -10 to -20 will get you to a nice place for gain, and you won't see those pesky limiter lights unless you have it cranked up. I'd go with the -10 setting.
So the mics pads should be sufficient then? There would be no need for inline attenuators if the mics have pads correct?

Yep, should be fine.
Thanks for the reply. One last question abou the threshold settings...do you know if all the way to the left is +6 and all the way to the right is +18db ? There are Bsolutely no markings to indicate anything and nothing in the manual so I am curious where others have their screws set at? All the way to the left, right, or in the middle somewhere? I jut don't want to have it set too low for recording rock shows.
I have them all the way to the right currently and they were limiting at about -6db (gain knobs were at 8:30) for the show I just attended. If I apply the 10 b pad on my mics would I have to adjust the limiter threshold? I hope this question makes sense. I have another show on Tuesday and I want this figured out if possible
Thanks

I don't use the limiter. With my 3Zs with the -15db pads engaged, I end up with the dials at ~11:00. This gets the peaks to +12 (2nd red) which sounds great to my ears. Paired with the M10 set at 4.5, I get peaks ~-6 (perfect) at loud shows. Hope that helps!
