Hey All,
I've been recording in a couple of small clubs by hanging my AK 40's on a Kwon bar attached to a clamp. I haven't needed a stand up to this point but got some decent tix for Mule in Boston. That said, I've not recorded in an arena (or tent in this case) and could use some suggestions for a proper stand(or pole) for use in the seats. It would be nice to get a great pull without banging my head against the wall so any useful tips, dos and don'ts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Conan

These would work at a seated show!

This is the best option, especially the venue you are talking about (Bank of America Pavilion). Or you could find another taper and clamp onto their stand. Check out the Team New England thread to see who else is going and where their seats are located

Hey All,
Thanks for the excellent info. Between that and my home-made clamp I think I'm good to go. Vanark that's a great idea and I'll certainly keep that in mind as an option. Any particular rules of etiquette That I should follow in regards to my neighbors in the surrounding seats? I've never recorded in such close quarters and want it all to go smoothly.

Keep your stand and gear in your own space is a general rule unless you have the permission of your neighbors. Sometimes you may need to keep your stand at head height but at Mule you can run it as high as you want (at least that is my experience).

I tape at pavillion frequently and I own the the 99b and superclamp system jbell ref and have only been successful getting it to clamp to a seat there once b/c I was on the end and it attached to a metal piece on the side under the seat but leaned into the aisle. The best option here is up against the rail at the mix position and clamp this system onto the rail. I always try to get the inside seat adjacent to fob at the mix rail and will be doing just that on the 31st. Although this venue is relatively spacious in the seats compared to many a stand is still difficult unless you are dfc in a row. Let me know you are welcome to clamp space if you like.

Axomxa,
Thanks for the offer and I may just take you up on that. I purchased a superclamp and extension pole and will try to make it work. My DIY clamp, while limited, might work if the superclamp doesn't. If all else fails I'll come looking for you.
Thanks,
