Anyone try the Schoeps WMS with any kind of fur? Has anyone made one yet? do you need it with that mic outdoors?
-
tbrown4 made a "deadmuppet" for my wms: http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=137563.0
I've used it a few times in heavy wind, but the wms itself is surprisingly good.

I have never used furs and never had a prob in low winds with my WMS's
-
I had wind noise on the first few outdoor recordings made m/s with mk4/mk8 in low to moderate wind (nothing I would have been concerned about if running mk4's with DPA or Shure foamies. I added a fur to the WMS and that solved the problem and never ran it outdoors without the fur over the WMS ever again. I no longer have the mk8 or WMS, but I might have that fur buried in the closet somewhere.

Check out the Windtech US-(1,2 or3) line. It is a dual density windscreen. I have a pair on order but i probably wont have them for two weeks.

Rycote would do a Windjammer for this - no problem.
Rycote also have a very good relationship wth Schoeps so, I would guess, they would have been talking together about this - and - Schoeps maye even have it as an OEM.

www.thewindcutter.net made me a fur for the WMS windscreen and now offers it in three different furs. Here is a link to one of them http://thewindcutter.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=1_91&product_id=581

Hello Alls,
i'm back again from new field recordings. I will talk about problems with my Sound Devices 702 in the right post.
About WMS Fur/outdoor, I've uses them. And other brand ones. Im my opinion, the best wind protection I've used are the ones made by the french brand CINELA (see: http://www.cinela.fr/). Note that you can got the pages in English (rignt bottomo of each page).
For Schoeps microphone they propose various wind protection systems. See for example the "Zephyx" system page: http://www.cinela.fr/zephyx.php.
Best regards from the old (and problematic Europe).

Mmmm - the latest Cinela shockmounts now equal the Rycote (after they changed from metal to Hytrel), but I have heard that the "Zephyx" can creak a bit in windy conditions.
You say: "These wind protection are the only ones that respect the complete frecuencies ranges..." what is your evidence for this? The Rycote certainly do this - I would say the the basket windshield is equal in this respect and I know the Rycote WIndjammer is specially researched so that it has the minimal effect on the frequency response. I would like to see the measurements on the Cinela one to compare.
