Title: Shure A26M...would it make a suitable M/S mount?

Seems fine to me. What size mm are the mount holes?

It depends.....

It could work very well, but it will depend on the diameter of the microphones and the size of the microphone heads.

It could hold them too far apart, or too close.

My preferred method is to use a Rycote INV-7 or INV-7HG with a pair of the Rycote back-2-back clips.  This works perfectly.
