Steve

Define "high end"?  What exactly do you need the card to do, i.e. what functions do you require?

I would be using it for D100 transfers to the HD.  I used to use the Delta Dio and would buy one again.  Just want a card that is high quality, dependable, and worth every cent.

Yes, the 2496 has been discontinued though.  What are some opinions on the Tascam US-428 Digital Audio Workstation?

oh
echo Midi MIA
egosys waveterminal 2496 (discontinued)
m-audio audiophile 2496

all 3 are 2496 bit-perfect

there are other options if you are willing to go USB

the egosys u24 is supposedly bit perfect and goes through usb
i believe the zoltrix nightengale or some such is also reportedly bit perfect and very very cheap, that's a pci card
the ones schwilly suggested work too

anything edirol is not bit perfect

The U24 doesn't do 24/96 - only 24/48, I think, but I use its predecessor, the U2A, and it's been a breeze to use.

If you're just looking for a 16/48 card, also consider the emi 2|6 (now the A26). Just so happens I have one I'm looking to sell, too...how's that for an unbiased opinion? :P
