Post by: deadheadcorey on August 23, 2013, 01:21:37 AM
i have this weird buzzing noise in my recording from last night. is it cell phone interference? i set up as normal. my roommate says i might not have had everything plugged in nice n tight... attached is a sample

also i just tested everything here at home, plug both mics in and recorded some music from the stereo system. transferred file and listen and i don't hear the weird buzzing noise.

I'd say external electrical noise.  It is primarily in one channel (left).  It isn't the typical noise you get from a battery box being too close to the recorder, characterised by a series of distinct spikes.  It is broadband.   Therefore a mains hum filter doesn't really improve it.   Perhaps coming from the PA.     Careful use of a noise reduction tool will improve it but watch out for "birdie" artifacts if you use it too aggressively.

Hope this helps.
