Title: Busman bsc1 microphone kick drum issue
Post by: Phil Zone on August 26, 2013, 10:07:34 PM
Hi I have a pair of Bsc 1 mics from busman. For some reason most of my recordings have a lot of kick drum. Enough that I have a ton of eq to do. I run it through a littlebox with output transformers into a m10 if that helps.

Any suggestions or is that normal for this mic or all mics? And is it something else in my gear.

Thanks
Cam

(in no particular order)

A) You're output transformers are likely adding a touch to that lower register.
B) I spoke with a friend of mine who had them for a while and we both agreed that they sound flatter/heavier in the bottom end around the 100-200hz range compared to some other mics. (and maybe a touch softer above 5khz)
C) Rock in bars is typically mixed low end heavy.

you've got (at least) three factors that are sort of playing off each other.
