On the recommendation of Bean and others here, I recently purchased a Schoeps mounting bar setup for my Church CA-14s. I went with followinbob's Schoeps One Bar since I liked the modular setup and Jon was nice enough to sell me a half set to do just DIN and ORTF. When I got the bar I measured my mics in the mount, and found that the distance between caps is about 30mm shorter than intended for any given pattern. Not ever having used Schoeps caps I expected them to be much fatter but didn't plan on them being that much longer. The good news about this was that I found the DIN setup for Schoeps now is almost exactly DIN-A with CA-14s. The bad news was that I couldn't do standard DIN or standard ORTF with these pieces - just a narrower ORTF-ish pattern at 14cm.
So I dropped Jon a line and asked if he would make me a custom center piece for his bar system 30mm longer than his standard. He obliged, and with my new center section combined with what I had already I am now set up for DIN, DIN-A, ORTF, and the aforementioned "narrow ORTF" at 110deg / 14cm. I feel like this setup is a very good value because it's a modular system and I didn't have to buy a separate bar for each pattern. Plus, if I ever have the money to buy a set of actives (doubtful) I already have the mounts.

Pics of all this are below. The shorter center section and the four ends is what would come standard for Schoeps and would give you standard DIN and ORTF using Schoeps caps. The longer section is the custom piece Jon made for me. Also, you will notice some blue painter's tape (no residue!) on the ends of the CA-14s - this is needed to make them fit snugly in Schoeps mounts. Kudos to Jon on the great work and outstanding service once again!

The short center section though causes a slight problem - the fixing pins touch the outer part of the shockmount. Looking for other options at the moment. My setup was made with 19mm stock so that rules out the Shures I think.

You can just put some tape over the bar so it fits the shure/schoeps shocks ;)

True, but one of those shocks would cost more than the entire bar setup did! Or one of those Rycote mounts would be really sweet, but again a bit pricey. Right now I'm considering one of these two:

You mean the diameter of the bar? Yes, they're all 20mm!

My bar is actually made from 19mm stock, as Jon was out of 20mm at the time I ordered. But if I account for the extra 1mm with tape on the bar or more preferably the shock, I like the way it looks like it would snap in securely.

Is the cradle where the active bars goes, 20mm ??? If so, I might pickup a few just to have ;) But if theyre bigger/smaller than 20mm, Im not interested ???

PS-I already have [3] Schoeps A20 shocks, [1] Shure A53M Donut shock, and [1] Windtech cheapo shock I use with my Vark Bars ;)
