Title: MXL990/991?
Post by: lsd2525 on October 08, 2013, 09:23:11 AM
Hmm. Taking a look at the "Stupid deal of the day" (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid/?src=3TP3DRR), a MXL990 & 991 for $69.99. Read some things about modding the 990's; anyone tried this? How about mods for the 991?

there are two MXL jim williams' modded mics on ebay right now, and MXL770 and a 990.  i can't speak to either mic or how the jw mod improves them.  i'm just posting the links in response to your thread.  i have no affiliation to this ebay auction at all.

This is a no brainier. Buy two pair and mod both yourself. Then you will have two really good pair of condensers mics for under two hundred. You will have a pair of mics that sound far better than anything in the under 700 new.

Not modded they will due and are a great mic to use under shaky circumstances.....rowdy bars and rain.
