Title: Uh-oh: problem with Marantz PMD620
Post by: floete on December 12, 2013, 08:27:20 AM
Just went to power up my PMD620 only to find out that it freezes right at the Marantz Professional screen and won't move from there.  None of the buttons function.  Not even the on-off button.  To power down, I've got to remove the batteries.  Damn.

Nothing has happened to the recorder recently that would account, no shocks to the system, no raindrops falling on its head, etc.  Anyone have an idea of what's going on and how i might fix it?  Or maybe it's time for a new recorder.  Will make a separate post about that.

Idk, maybe try leaving the batteries out of it overnight.  This might allow any internal memory glitch to reset. Other than that if no one has suggestions get in touch with Marantz's tech support via e-mail to document the problems complete description with them and their response.

Another thought if after extended time without batteries doesn't help. Download the most recent firmware from their website, install it unzipped on a memory card root directory. Maybe it will boot to and install the firmware update from the card.

Any chance the batteries could have been weak or installed backwards? Perhaps wrong AC adapter or external battery was used with it?
