Title: Help with my cs dpa 461 mics
Post by: leykis 101 on January 30, 2014, 08:18:38 PM
Ok I seem to have an ongoing problem with mic clamps ???

I have core sounds heb dpa 461 and I love them, (they get awsome sound out of large small loud venues etc)

I have tie clip holders for them, but they keep coming off when I attempt to set up before a show, (I hat mount them)  2 times, I had them drop into a metal grate or fell under the seat of the people infront of me ::)

Anyone have a better suggestion for the clips, as once this happens, I cant do anything except pull the mics and try the recorder only mode with mixed results

As the clips not holding to the mic or are the clips not holding to the hat?

I use the DPA clips with a hat. What I always do is velcro or gaff tape the clip holding the mic into the inside of the hat.

What Mr. QPL said.  I use the exact same clips.  Yes they're tad bulkier but they hold the cable well without issue.

thanks for the suggestions.

My problem is that the clips dont always hold onto the mic cable (as I go to clamp it, it will just fall off, even though i check all of my stuff before putting it together before I go into the venue, (I securely store it inside a dog poop bag, so it wont get bumped around while going into a venue).  I will be trying to attach them, and it will just come off, (not always and if I dont think fast or get lucky where I can just grab it, I am out of luck

Do not use elastic bands on these mics.. The cables can handle abuse but the number two reason why these mics fail is the cable the number 1 reason is sweat. Something most tapers don't have to worry about. But don't use anything like elastic and before anyone comments they have been doing it forever. Trust me eventually the mics will fail right were that elastic was.
